We indeed already mentioned it, but we’ll say it loud again, we haven’t seen as many French blading videos since the 4 aligned wheels have been invented. We won’t discuss now their overall quality, neither will we try to find the exogenous or endogenous causes of this chemical reaction, because we just want to say for now it makes us really happy.

Amongst all these video projects, we’ll focus here on our bro Louis Vilar’s project. We all know him for his blading talents and his Foch’s boss title, his crazy backsides being eye candies for many within the community, but Louis also is for quite some time now a blading teacher, especially at the EGP 18 parisian skatepark, following there the tracks of the Ruckly brothers. And seeing him passing on his love for skating and its culture to so many people is one of the reasons which make us believe in the longevity of our activity.

Anyway, we’re not here to jerk off for hours, topic here is the release of « Peace Baguette », and you’ll find below a recap of a few blunted chats we had with Louis about his video.

Well Louis, after all these years on skates, what led you, at an age when most people think more about quitting or whinning, to put your big hands on a camera ?

Listen bro, the main thing that hit me first was the death of Negrete. Seing a man who did so much for our community and his in motion representation passing away, I don’t know why but it really started something in my mind. You come to a point where you say to yourself, fuck, we spent so much time on our skates, you met so many people thanks to blading, and you’ve seen so many tricks never being captured on tape that you feel something has been screwed up.

On the other hand, it’s one of the cool things about French blading, most of people who’re still around weren’t in for self exposure or recognition approach, they were just skating for the love !

You’re right on this point, however, and it has something to do with getting older, it’s also a bless for me to say to myself that in 20 years, when we’ll feel some nostalgia, something will be there that goes beyond friend memories, something that will leave an impression.

Ca on comprend, carrément même.

We absolutely understand this ! And how did it all started for you ? Were you boosted after spending some time with the Haitian boys ?

No actually it started when my mate Thomas Pfluger gave me a DSLR. He really treated me well with this ! I then began to work on a few edits, it also helped to stack a few clips for Shima Skates, but I fancied a real camera, one you can zoom with, with a proper microphone and so on… And as I obviously didn’t have enough cash to treat myself with a recent digital one, I went for the VX option. But I also admit meeting guys as cool and inspiring as the Haitian boys also helped me to go for it !

Right, but till then you only worked on short edits, so what drove you to the thoughts of editing a full video ?

Well, when Ugo Ruckly still lived in Paris, we hung out a lot together, and we stacked quite a few clips. But he left town suddenly, and even though we had enough material to edit a part, I didn’t want to release just a short edit I’d have put little personal investment in to be forgotten right after. I personally felt I had to go further and start a real project. And as I started to have more tricks captured from good friends, both in Lyon and Paris, I decided to keep on filming for a few more months, until this winter when I told to myself I had what I wanted to finish it, and to move on another project.

Wait wait, let’s keep the what’s next for later ! What did you enjoy doing while shooting this video ?

As I told you before, first the time spent with Ugo, who’s a really good guy and a hell of a skater. The most cool thing might have been to hear my old friend Thomas telling me he hasn’t been that juiced to skate for 10 years, it made me so happy ! Remy, even if it was a short and intense session, it’s always crazy to film with him. Bina also, who was down to skate and shoot when he came back to Paris, while he had a broken hand, and even moved his ass to Lyon to party with us for the Seans 3 premiere, that was so cool. Filming a part with Simon was a blast too, few people know him, but he’s a fucking stuntman and an awesome dude. I almost forgot Jey, who managed to get a part done while just shooting with his girlfriend, and with a fucked-up knee, before going for surgery. Get well soon Jey ! And indeed all the others bros I met and shot clips with.

And as you mentioned, it made you want to start il all again ? You‘re not tired with all the hours spent capturing and editing this ?

Haha actually I believe my girlfriend Elo is more sick of it than I am. I’m just really happy to watch again the sessions, and to be able to keep all these memories shared with friends. I also realized that since the beginning of this project, I improved my filming skills, and I also have new ideas when it comes to editing, so I consider this video as a first attempt, and I’ll for sure take another one !

We believe here this one will already bring a smile on quite a few faces, so we really hope there’ll be a sequel !

Aight, thanks to you guys, the new project will be on track soon !
