It’s thanks to this what’s app message:

            “Thank you!

So as promised we will have a thank you get together/party with all the volunteers from the Raclette Jam, on Saturday 05.03.2016. We will start with an apero around 6.30pm and some raclette (traditional cheese, potato and raw meat dish from the mountains) from 7.30pm onward, after that…. we shall see!

All the drinks and the raclette are naturally offered! As for the quantities, thanks for…”

… that I can barely remember promising an article on the “Raclette Jam Contest 2016” (and I’m pretty sure that promise was made to ALL the organisers, ALL the riders and ALL the forgotten unknown people that I met during the agitated event parties). Let’s put it this way, as a judge I already had free brews and blunts all weekend, and to top it all I’m also invited to a party were everything is provided for free again, just to thank me. Ah it’s not always easy…

The one and only !

Let me set the vibe for you, this is what the TRBC team (Team Roller Bienne City, can’t make that up) had put together for us: “a week end forfeit simili-all-inclusive B&B&B&B&B*”, all that for 40 Swiss franc, including:

*Beers&Blunts&Blade&Bed&Breakfast, also known as the Big-B5 as referred to by some professional in the field.

– 2 nights in a huge room all heated up and furnished with various mattresses and couches,
– 2 brunches, one Saturday morning and one on Sunday,
– registration for the week end’s comps (best trick on Friday night and contest on Saturday)
– the official “Raclette Jam 2016” t-shirt
– entries to all parties

Yes!! All of that for only 40 Swiss francs… And I’m not even talking about the terra-litres of beers graciously provided along those 3 days. Moreover, I gotta add that everything was taking place in the same building, and we didn’t even have to set a foot outside to go from skatepark, dormitory, bar/raclette room, dealer or to the 2 party rooms!

Friday February 5th 2016, all ready for that crazy weekend. I set my GPS, which announces Bulle-Bienne around 1h15mins. 5 hours later, after a few blunt stops and some detours to pick up Mr Stephane De Freitas, freshly landed from Brazil on that day, and another friend, we get to the Minority Skatepark of Bienne. Yet we even make it on time for the Beer Pong tournament registrations. 6 playing tables with assigned judges to each of them, specific and strict rulings, some 30 registered teams, a 20 pallets high column of 25×0.5l beers, no fucking around, we made it to heaven! Well for real we lost all our games, ALL OF THEM. But, thanks to all the protests filed in, we somehow made it to semi finals. Well that’s what I was told; personally I clearly don’t remember any of it.

Soudainement, y a eu apéro.

Saturday February 6th 2016, relatively easy wake up, around 2pm, big day of inline skating to come: junior qualifications + finals, am qualifications + finals, pro qualifications + finals and I gotta judge it all.

I did judge it. It was a good day of skating. It was raining blunts. There were some hammers. Suddenly, there was an apero. Several ones actually. There were tech and spinning tricks. And all of a sudden there was a roller disco guy, and then the awards.

Diego s’est waxé le chemin vers la première place – Diego waxing his way to the first place

Then followed a crazy after party, in not one but two party rooms, and no time limit…! Floating about, robot style dancing, stumbling around, brain loss, and early in the morning crawling back to the dorm.

Sunday February 7th 2016, woke up “dead rat in throat” style (quite typical and recurring at this type of event, causes and effects quite known by now), blunts, then a huge brunch impossible to swallow before an apero and finally a slagging sesh with the boys during the day.

Highly recommended contest for all of you! Thanks to the organising team for that party/blading weekend worthy of a winter version of former Roller Contest of Lausanne and the old Bulle contests.
